"Eight-Point-Nine Seconds"

"The Tressatops Egg"

About the author: Born in sunny Honolulu, but raised under gloomier Jersey skies, Kristal Johnson is all about polar opposites. Sun and clouds. Light and darkness. Good versus evil. Perhaps that’s why post-apocalyptic fiction appeals to her so much. What better way to explore the darkness and depravity of the human condition, and our capacity to overcome it, than a catastrophe that pushes each person to their limits?

Her short stories have appeared in MindFlights and Dragons, Knights and Angels. And her tale "Unplugged" grabbed 2nd place honors in the Writer’s Digest 2007 Annual Writing Competition.

When she’s not writing, or trying to shush her two rambunctious boys, you’ll often catch her jogging along the quiet, rolling farmlands of LaGrange NY with her pepper spray in hand. You know how dangerous those cows can be.
